H.R.H. Prince William visits Cairns

His Royal Highness Prince William, 2nd in line to the Throne of the United Kingdom visited far north Queensland today putting the republican movement back about a 20 years.

Having Visited Cardwell for a community BBQ at Lunctime and then headed on toTully for another community event, The prince arrived in Cairns in a Black hawk helicopter for a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Service base in Cairns.

The RFDS base in Cairns is the largest in the country and was previously visited by the Queen Elizabeth II on her last visit to Australian in 2002.

 

 

Prince William spent just over twenty minutes at the base talking to pilots, nurses and other RFDS staff and their families.

He inspected one of the RFDS planes and whilst sitting on board spoke with the pilots for about 10 minutes about their working and the operations of the base

The RFDS is one of only three organiis sations outside the UK that will benefit from donations in lieu of gifts for his upcoming marriage in April, Donations can be made via the charitable gift fund at www.royalweddingcharityfund.org
